LOGIQC respects first peoples on ‘Australia Day’
January 26th does not celebrate the establishment of Australia as a country, but instead marks the foundation of the British colony of New South Wales. Australians hold many different views on what January 26 represents – and this is particularly the case among Indigenous communities.
As a company LOGIQC has decided not to recognise ‘Australia Day’ as it is commonly designated on the 26th by the Australian Government because marking the anniversary of the arrival of the First Fleet can cause offence to First Nations people. Instead, we have chosen to support the concept of a “Reconciliation Day” which can occur on the 26th or any other day around that time. So together with many other Australian companies we are proud to offer our staff the option to choose their own date for celebrating the public holiday.
